Wounded Warriors Car Show Event

Our morning started out early on 7/25/10, We started arriving at the Freeport Wrecking yard a little after 7 AM.

Our focus for the day was to cook & serve $1000.00 worth of hot dogs. As a fund raiser for the Wounded Warrior's program.

We lined our cars along each side of Buffalo Ave. Creating eye candy for the many spectators anticipated to arrive.

This location was anticipated to be good, however it proved wrong as our friendly FPD asked us to move South.

But not before Tiger Jimmy Jr. Paulie plaid traffic cop. Had no idea the level of intelligence shopping at BJ's.

As the day kicked off there was a huge turnout and the weather was extremely perfect.

Cars got crushed every half hour, The FFD displayed the jaws of life equipment.

That's used in extricating people from damaged cars. The Mounted Police and Swat team gave demos for the children.

In addition the Freeport Rifle & Pistol range was open for displays and shooting demo's.

In addition the band played through out the day. I'm only touching on the events as the listing went on and on.

Well we fired up the 2 grill's about 10:45.

Immediately the lines formed and our 5 star chef's had there hands full for the next 5 hours.

While the food was prepared we realized that 12:00 Sunday couldn't come fast enough.

As we had to wait till then to purchase our adult beverages. Well they iced up pretty fast and off to the races we were.

Our famed plumber Johnny B Good kept reminding the gathers that there donations were appreciated.

Did every one see his routine with the lady that wanted cheese on her hamburger..

Going to leave that alone, this is a family site yes.

We did have some visitors that seemed to assist us on our refreshment back log,

Our esteem member Pete Giorgi's daughter was help full in minimizing our back log of cold ones.

Got to love that lady... Well while the lines continued to grow so did the flames on the grill,

as we got engulfed in smoke we smiled and laughed at our efforts. Can there be a better cause?

The Old Man got assigned to be a Judge of the Cars on display, he graciously obliged and had some fun with that as well.

Dirty Ernie, had his camera always focused and got the little ones in the Old Mans midget for a photo op,

This generated a substantial amount of money as a donation process.

Well the day couldn't have been better and the total raised equated to just $6000.00

But money are still being collected and distributed.

My special thanks goes out to the membership for making this day so special for all.
Pete, Jim Leys Sr. & Jr. Joe Joe, Johnny B Good, Tiger, Pilot, Dennis, Mikey 5 Star,

Louie, Dirty Ernie, Paulie Nails, Kurtie Kurt, David L, and yours truly.

I could not be prouder of the efforts displayed by the attendees as this show meant a lot to me,

being a home town Freeport guy. Wait till next year to see how we can enhance this years effort.

Regards, Your President Jimmy
