VETERAN'S DAY PARADE

11-11-09

Our day began in usual club fashion, meet @ Dunkin Donuts for coffee.

Cloudy and overcast with a chance of showers was in the forecast.

Not a good way to start out the day with an open car.

However we did have 3 brave souls, Ernie The Red Baron Ruiz,

Mikey the 5 Star Chef Cordiello, and Myself off to bare the elements.

That morning as I pondered the day departing home in the rain,

I kept going back and forth about the weather.Go or stay home,

I continued thinking dam I'm going to get soaked cold or some part of both for sure.

Then I thought, that how tonight I'll be returning to a warm shower and bed.

How many of our troops aren't going to see that for awhile..

Suddenly my decision became easy for me, and off I went….

The Dunkin Donut entourage included LIR's members,

Frank Tiger Melaccio, Johnny B Good Ocasio, Jim Old Man Leys,

and Jimmy Junior, Mike 5 the Star Chef Cordello,

Ernie the Red Baron Ruiz, Johnny the Politician Cusmano and yours truly Jimmy.

A large contingent of South Side Boys & Back in Time Cruisers was on hand as well.

Our journey into Queens was uneventful.

We joined forces with the other Parade attendees and our Police Escort.

We departed the park under the watchful guidance of a very sincere Highway Patrolmen.

He blocked every intersection and even shut down the LIE for us to get on in single file.

Did you guys all hear that roar going threw the Midtown Tunnel, whew.

That is over the top.

What a journey that was, I was so impressed

with his dedication to keep us together and safe.

I invited him to our next Picnic along with his partner and family.

He was very thankful for our consideration.

While staged for 3 hours awaiting our turn to the parade route,

there was much bantering about the Long Island Roadster Banner.

You know the one that now resides in Eastern Europe

thanks to our Politician with his foreign sales.

Some great photo ops of our new speed racer Red Baron Ruiz with the 4 cylinder.

Of course what would a gathering be without Tiger and B Good tattooing each other.

Oh the joys of there humor.

        Our Parade organizer, name unknown

asked for open car volunteers to transport people in the parade.

Of course my first question was what sex and how old are they?

Well talk about a blank stare, he had that Deer in the Headlights look.

Not a good sign as I thought much too serious for this group.

Well it wasn't long when 3 girls appeared with Tiara's and Banners.

Of course my keen eye reached out for the Beauty Queen of the 3.

For the record her name is Amy, who is a Nurse and resides in Centereach.

That's all the definition I'll provide to you guys!

As after all I'm as pure as the driven snow…

All kidding aside she is a great lady with a very upbeat personality.

Think we need to include her in our future events.

Ok Jimmy lets get back to the Parade!?

We departed the staging area and proceeded up 5th avenue.

To the cheers of so many. This is truly a tribute to our Military and Veterans.

May we never forget them.

Our journey up 5th avenue with horns blaring and engines thumping.

Only interrupted by an occasional burn out or two.

Johnny B Good wouldn't let the day go by without a few side ways activities…

I'm sure the Old man was off to the races as well though not in my sight.

However I was advised he had Jim Junior out of the car running

threw the sidewalk venders looking for a steak on a stick??

Well the good thing no one was thrown out of the parade this year.

Of course we closed the day with a Club Lunch

and many fond memories and discussions of the day.

A special thanks to our attendees, including our Mascot Peter,

who was hard at work. Tough job he has huh…

A special note out to Uncle Al for his assistance with this gathering.

Of course I'd be remiss if I didn't thank Amy for making my day.

By the way I was informed that our 5 star chef, left his daughters at the curb,

but made room for one of the other Tiara beauties that enlightened our presences.

Nice move Mike plenty of ammunition for the Old Man to load up with.

By the way who is having Thanksgiving,

love to be a fly on the wall at that gathering.

Please acknowledge our esteem Secretary Frank Tiger Melaccio

for coordination of the LIR members, for this event.

I must say we don't make it easy.

In closing may we all remember our Veterans and all our Troops

for what they do and have done to keep our nation the great nation it is today.

Yours Truly,
Jimmy Seymour
